Sherry Lyu

PhD Student

Sherry joined NYU as a PhD student in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in 2025. She earned her M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University and brings prior industry experience in molecular engineering and analytical characterization. Her current research interest is motivated by the realization that high device performance alone cannot solve the extensive sustainability challenges linked to modern energy technologies. She is pivoting towards a circular-materials perspective, understanding end-of-life mechanisms of materials and devising strategies that prohibit degradation and extend device lifespan. Through this research, she aspires to advanced close-loop design principles for the next generation of energy systems.
